A flat tree, a small trunk and a loop for hanging: this crochet Christmas ornament is a design by Sandra Petit of Crochet Cabana. The pattern includes the tree body, trunk and edging. The original instructions are shared here with permission, with section links to help you find your place.
The cover image is an AI-generated green-and-brown concept, not a photograph of a finished sample. Sandra’s source sample is red; the materials note also allows traditional Christmas colors and a brown trunk.

Before you begin: The finished size depends on your yarn and hook. The source does not give a fixed hook size, gauge or measurements. Trunk rows 2–5 do not explicitly mention turning; we’ve kept those rows as written. We have not crocheted a test sample of this pattern.
Materials
sample uses worsted weight yarn but you can make these with any type of yarn or thread. It takes a small amount of yarn in traditional Christmas colors for each tree . You can brown for the trunk if you prefer. Use a hook appropriate for the yarn chosen.
Size
Depends on materials used.
